Police Dispatcher (Hourly/PRN)

Qualifications/Duties

Under general supervision, assists students, employees, and visitors to the university in locating campus facilities; performs clerical traffic/parking related duties as requested and in accordance with University policies and procedures; dispatches police and public service officers to calls for police services. Operates a radio base station and uses law enforcement codes and terminology to communicate with officers on or around campus. Maintains radio log in an accurate manner. Records calls made to and from officers. Provides basic information or refers inquiry to duty officer, as appropriate. Answers the telephone, addressing callers in a professional, service-oriented manner and routes calls or takes messages, as appropriate. Assists in the issuing of temporary parking permits. Uses alarm software to monitor alarm systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent required.  Six months of clerical experience or three months of experience as a radio dispatcher is preferred.

Days/Times 

Vary. Position is a shift position and will require work during day, evening or night hours as needed.

Salary

$10/hr
