National Recognition for ASU Residence Halls
March 04, 2015
Overall, ASU’s residence halls were ranked No. 5 on the list, and ASU is the only Texas school to be recognized. The rankings were formulated based on average 2012-13 room and board rates, aesthetic appeal, amenities/facilities and social programs.
According to AffordableSchools.net, “Indeed, the…30 schools boast exceptionally inviting residence halls that cost less than the respective 2012-13 national average when board is also included. Moreover, these dorms are not only pretty, but have exciting social scenes and outstanding amenities to boot – offering, as a result, the best-value college experience that money can buy.”
About the ASU residence halls, AffordableSchools.net wrote, “Unusually, Texas’ Angelo State University features a dorm with its very own movie theater. The San Angelo school’s Texan Hall, which is available to most students, features all the usual mod cons, as well as a modest cinema seating up to 75 moviegoers. Furthermore, sports fans can turn their collective attention to residence hall Centennial Village, which was opened in 2008 and boasts a games room, a space for sand volleyball and an outdoor basketball court. There are five other dorms from which to choose, too. And affordable – the school’s 2014-15 room and board fees totaled just $7,484 – not bad for what one student has described as ‘some of the finest dorm setups in Texas.’”
Collectively, ASU houses more than 2,000 students each fall and spring semester in the Texan Hall, Centennial Village, Plaza Verde, Robert and Mary Massie Halls, Concho Hall and Carr Hall residence facilities and the Vanderventer Apartments complex.
In the AffordableSchools.net rankings, only Evangel University (Missouri), Indiana Wesleyan University, Taylor University (Indiana) and University of North Florida scored higher than ASU.
