Mungia Southwest Heating & Air Conditioning
Owner/Manager: Anthony Mungia
Nature of Business: Heating and Air Conditioning Contractor
City: Sonora, Texas
SBDC Business Advisor: Peggy Hodges
Starting from the time he had his first job, Anthony Mungia has known that he wanted to eventually own his own business. He sought certification in Heating and Air Conditioning repair and worked for several years for a large firm in San Angelo.
He first started his own business, Mungia Southwest Heating and Air Conditioning, in Eldorado and then decided to expand his business to Sonora. He visited with other business owners in Sonora and learned about the financial support of the Sonora Economic Development Corporation from former EDC Board Member, Colonel Pete Bradley. Anthony’s friend and owner of World Class Taxidermy, Justin Mathews, suggested he contact the Small Business Development Center at Angelo State University for assistance with the application.
Anthony contacted Rural Business Advisor, Peggy Hodges. “Peggy helped with the writing of the business plan and projections for the EDC application. I never could have done the project without the help of Peggy and extra assistance in the Sonora area.” Anthony said.
The Sonora EDC awarded Mungia Southwest Heating and Air Conditioning a $40,000 grant to assist with their growth. This grant enabled Anthony to retain three jobs and potentially add one more.
