Assessment Instruments – Spring 09
These assessments are offered to all ASU undergraduate students at no cost. The time for each assessment may vary, so schedule an appointment and one of our advisors will be happy to meet with you. If you are unsure which assessment is right for you, an advisor will help you choose which assessment will meet your needs.
CSI -- College Student Inventory:
The CSI is a tool to assess academic motivation (study habits, intellectual interests, desire to finish college), general coping ability (ease of transition, family emotional support, career planning), and receptivity to support services (academic assistance, counseling, financial guidance). Some students have a hard time adjusting to a new environment, which could affect many areas of your academic life. Help yourself by targeting areas of concern and discover a positive approach.
Nelson-Denny:
This assesses student achievement and progress in vocabulary, comprehension, and reading rate. You can learn your strengths and weaknesses in vocabulary and/or reading comprehension and determine a plan of action in how to attack reading in all academic disciplines.
VARK -- Visual Auditory Reading/Write Kinesthetic:
This is a learning styles assessment. Have you ever wondered why your studying is not paying off? Discovering your learning style may help you study more efficiently and effectively.
LASSI -- Learning and Study Strategies Inventory:
The LASSI is designed to gather information about your awareness regarding learning strategies, study practices and motivation. It can be used to help identify strengths and weaknesses in various study areas.
