About Katelin

What are some of your favorite things to do in San Angelo?

One of my favorite things to do is to go out to Lake Nasworthy with my friends. ASU has a lake house where my friends and I like to go to and catch some rays by laying out on the dock. We also play some sand volleyball out there and catch a ride on a friend’s boat. It’s a blast on a hot day!

What is your favorite place on campus?

That would have to be the intramural fields. I had so much fun playing all the different sports. It was always a nice getaway from schoolwork and a great way to meet new friends.

Favorite restaurant in San Angelo?

While most people would probably choose a local restaurant that you can only find here in town, I still have to choose Cheddars. I don't care if it’s a chain restaurant, it’s so good!

What advice would you give a student about choosing a university?

Make sure you take a trip to visit the university, and while you’re there stop and talk to some of the current students — they can give you some great insight about the university. Be sure that the university fits YOU. Don't choose a school based on where all your friends are going. You will meet some great new people wherever you go, and some may turn out to be lifelong friends.

What advice would you give a student about succeeding in college?

Make sure you balance your academic life with your social life. Be sure to get involved in all sorts of things on campus, from joining organizations to attending events, but also make sure you make it to the library and hit the books to keep up that GPA.

What was your favorite class at ASU and why?

Definitely the two courses I took while doing study abroad. I was able to travel to Scotland, London, Ireland, France and Italy all in one month while getting six hours of credit. The experience with the professors and classmates was unforgettable, and the locations we visited were amazing! The best part was that it was all very affordable because of the Carr International Scholarship that ASU offers.

What is your favorite ASU fact?

ASU's Carr Academic Scholarship Program provides scholarships for one in every six ASU students. I think that is so awesome that ASU can provide a scholarship for so many of the students.
