Music Degree Programs
In addition to learning to play music in the classroom, students also have the opportunity to take courses in music history, music theory, improvisation, conducting and composition, among others.
Each area of music emphasis available is taught by a professor who specializes in that area. Professors, not teaching assistants, teach all courses. Large ensemble rooms are available to the music classes that require the space and accommodations.
Two music degree programs are available at ASU:
Music
Students pursuing this degree plan take specialized courses that focus on the instrument of their choice as well as music theory, music history, orchestration and conducting, among other subjects.
Music with All-Level Teacher Certification
This option allows students to earn teacher certification so that they may teach music at any level in grades K-12.
