Undergraduate Degree Programs
Biology may be described simply as the study of life, but the varied courses you will take at ASU focus on everything from botany and zoology to medical genetics and oceanography.
Faculty in the Biology Department are not only passionate about what they study and research, they also take the time to get to know students. Courses usually consist of lectures and labs. All upper division courses are taught by Ph.D.-level faculty and laboratory classes are taught by professors – not teaching assistants.
Undergraduate students typically choose one of the four degree plan options below. Those interested in becoming health professionals are encouraged to read our online information and contact an adviser.
Biology with a Minor in Chemistry
Students pursuing this degree plan are usually interested in seeking general employment following graduation or in applying to medical school (including optometry, podiatry, dentistry or graduate school).
Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with Multiple Discipline Minor
Following this degree plan, students are usually interested in employment or graduate studies in the areas of organismal biology, ecology or evolutionary biology.
Biology with Secondary-Level Teacher Certification
in 8-12 Life Science
Students planning to teach life science at the eighth to 12th grade levels choose this degree option.
Clinical Laboratory Science with Minors in
Biology and Chemistry
This degree plan is designed for students planning a career in medical technology. Following the successful completion of the program, students are prepared to take a national registry examination.
