The above plan meets all core curriculum and Bachelor of Arts degree requirements. The BA degree with a major in Journalism with teacher certification requires a minimum of 127 semester credit hours, a minimum of 45 advanced (junior and senior level) semester credit hours, and a minimum of 30 semester credit hours in residence (24 of which must be at the advanced level).
Secondary Teacher Certification. A student who chooses journalism as a teaching field must complete: Journalism 1301, 1311, 1361, 2311, 2321, 2344, 3311, 3313, 3314, 4314, 4355, and 4379.
* Degree and certification standards may require the student majoring in journalism (with teacher certification) to exceed the normal 130-semester-hour minimum for a baccalaureate degree, dependent upon the area chosen as an academic minor.
* * The student must earn six semester hours of the same language at the sophomore
level [Modern Language 2311 (Span 2310 or 2311) and 2312]. Students without the necessary preparation to begin Modern Language 2311 will take Modern Language 1301 and/or 1302.
