Program Requirements

The Master of Arts in Communication degree prepares students for information service positions that demand information technology training, planning and management abilities. The total number of hours required for the program leading to the Master of Arts in Communications is 36 hours of courses leading to either the thesis or the non-thesis option.

Students must complete a residency requirement of a minimum of 15 graduate communication course hours in addition to any thesis or internship hours. All degree candidates will be required to pass a comprehensive exam (thesis option students will complete the comprehensive exam in addition to their thesis defense).

To be admitted to this program all general admission requirements of Angelo State University Graduate School must be met. In addition, applicants to this program must:

*A satisfactory score is considered in the context of the student's overall file so that the entire student profile suggests that the student will be successful. We suggest that 200 X GPA +Verbal + Analytical= a minimum of 1500 for entry into the program.

Students who have completed COMM 2344 (Graphics, Layout, and Design) and COMM 3345 (Desktop Publishing) with a grade of a "B" or above may take COMM 6300 as an elective. All others must take COMM 6300 as part of their core degree plan requirements. This class may be taken concurrently with some graduate courses in the department.
