Communication/Speech Alumni:

Alison Lange Romike, class of 1998. Since graduation, Alison has held positions in marketing and sales. At present, she is a sales rep for a company that publishes college textbooks, Addison Wesley/Benjamin Cummings, the sister company to Allyn Bacon Longman. Alison also serves as the contact person for the ASU Alumni Association in Houston. And, if that weren't enough school spirit, she's married to ASU alum Brad Romike, a business major.

Brandon Stephens, class of 1997 in Communication. Brandon began our M.A. in Communications at ASU, but decided to get married and move to Lubbock during the summer of 2001. So, Brandon transferred to Texas Tech to the Education department for a Master's of Education degree in Instructional Technology--with a Distance Learning Certificate program. He married at the end of June, and is living and working in Lubbock. Congrats and best wishes!

Don Wakefield, class of 1998 in Radio/TV. Don is now an Engineer and IT tech at Susquehanna Radio in Dallas. He also runs sound for a number of local bands and engineer a number of athletic events for several area colleges. He works for Susquehanna Radio/Dallas (KTCK,KKMR,KLIF,KPLX).

Kelly Walsh (class of 2000) Currently, Kelly is a project manager at TLP, an advertising agency in downtown Dallas. (It used to be Tracy Locke, and is associated with DDB-Needham.) Some of the accounts at TLP include Pepsi, Pizza Hut, American Airlines, Southwestern Bell, Harrah's Casinos. Kelly does the scheduling and traffic for jobs her accounts need done.

Don Harvey (class of 1992) Currently, Don is a Special Projects Manager for Dell Computers. Don is one of several Comm grads now working in technology--read on.

Kristi Wuensche (class of 1994). Formerly teaching at A M University, Kristi is now working with former ASU CDJ alum, Traci Shuffield Fulmer, at Professional DataSolutions, Inc. in Temple, TX. She's designing instructional/training materials for PDI.

Scott Rogers (class of 1993). Currently completing a masters degree in youth ministry.

Rachelle Niblett (class of 1996) Rachelle is currently teaching Speech at M.B. Smiley High School in Houston, Texas. For the last three years, she taught at Oak Village Middle School (same school district). So far, she prefers high school teaching.

Beth Allison (class of 1998). Beth currently is working for American Honda in Dallas. She has started an employee newsletter there is moving toward a PR position with Honda.

Yvonne Casanova 1999 graduate, says, I'm putting to use all of the things which I sometimes thought I would never use. I'm working in San Antonio, for The South Texas Blood Tissue Center- a non-profit company. I'm working in their Community Relations Department and having a blast! I do a lot of the company's flyers, and brochures for campaigns which they have. We even have problems with our computer every once in a while, and it reminds me of the journalism computer lab and graphics class. Yvonne is Community Relations Specialist at the South Texas Blood Tissue Center.

Bill Harlow, a 1997 communication graduate completed his M.A. in Communication at UTEP in May 1999, and is currently working on his Ph.D. at Texas A M with a major emphasis in public affairs and a minor emphasis in organizational communication. At UTEP, Bill worked with forensics and taught public speaking (the regular non-forensics classroom variety), and also taught at El Paso Community College during the 1998-99 school year- public speaking and a variety of ESOL courses.

Drama Alumni:

Dr. Christine Warner is a 1978 graduate, now at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. She focuses her practice and research in drama in education learning methodologies, interdisciplinary inquiry and classical and children's literature. Prior to her university teaching Christine taught language arts and theatre in classrooms that were located in a inner city high school in Washington D.C.; and a college preparatory school in El Paso, Texas. Christine continues her teaching practice in both the elementary/middle school and university classrooms on Native American Reservations in New Mexico and Montana. When Christine is not teaching on the reservation she is an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University, Columbus Ohio in the Integrated Teaching and Learning department where her focus is teaching drama in education and literacy methodologies to pre-service teachers as well as graduate students. She was recently awarded by her colleagues in the College of Education the Distinguished Scholarship Award in 2002. Also in 2002 she was awarded the Creative Dramatics Teacher of the Year Award by the American Alliance of Theatre Education.

El Camino Productions is a production company started by Levi Cory and Rhea Hines in 1999. Levi Cory wrote and directed their first project Living... , an independent feature film that was shot over a five week period in August (2000) in Brady. Rhea Hines was co-producer and Dustin Parks was Location Manager and Production Coordinator. Jennifer Harlow and Michael Rains played major roles in the film. Everyone lives in Austin except Dustin Parks, who is trying some freelance theatre work, traveling up the East Coast from Florida to New York and then to Chicago for 5 months with a floating theatre troupe. Carlton (Buddy) Smith class of 1978. Buddy uses the name Buddy Carlton, someone in Actor's Equity already had the name Buddy Smith. Presently working in New York and on a special project with Dr. Raymond Carver.

Jane Strickland class of 1976. Jane is Director of the Legislative Audit Commission. On behalf of the Illinois state Legislature, her office signs off on all the audits of public money in Illinois. A drama degree can take you to New York or L.A., or into politics. Jane and her family have forsaken Texas (but we try not to be bitter), for the midwest, and as of January 12, 2001, she reports more than 6 inches of snow on the ground (for months now). Journalism Alumni:

Stacy Jacob, class of 2000 and former ASU Life Editor for the Ram Page started her career as a Graphic Artist for Q's printing in San Angelo. She has since moved to the metroplex and is now working as a Production/Graphic Artist for a company in Dallas.

Charles Chuck Wright, journalism and drama ex '01 has returned to his home state of Louisiana and purchased tanning salons in Western Louisiana and East Texas. The ventures were so successful that he is now planning to buy of a Chevrolet dealership in Shreveport. In his spare time he's continuing his education by taking creative writing classes.

Melissa Williams Perner Class of 2000 and former editor of the Ram Page spent five years working at the San Angelo Standard-Times as the Region Reporter. Carmen Abascal-Sutton Class of 1984 - Journalism major with a Speech minor with teaching certification. Carmen has taught Journalism and Broadcasting at Del Rio High School in Del Rio, Texas since 1984. Yearbook sponsor - 15 years, newspaper sponsor - 11 years, and weekly TV show sponsor for 5 years. Married since 1989 to Jim Sutton; two children - Austin James 8 years and Jodie Marie 5 years.

Candace Cooksey Fulton. Class of 1974, former editor of the RamPage. Worked for Crafts Magazine, the University of South Florida, Angelo State University, and now the Managing Editor of the Brownwood Bulletin. Work e-mail is cfulton@texaswest.com. Yuri Soto. Class of 1999, Yuri is now sports editor of the Hereford Brand newspaper in Hereford, TX. He'd enjoy hearing from all of you.
