Deborah Palmer, M.A.
Serving as Director of Continuing Studies and Coordinator of the University's Education Program at
Goodfellow Air Force Base, Deborah joined Angelo State University in May of 1992. Prior to relocating
to San Angelo, she served in several capacities for the Texas Tech University Division of Continuing
Education, including her final position as Assistant Director of Professional Development and
Certificate/Extension Programs. Deborah has been in the field of continuing education since 1980 and
has served on the faculties of the University of North Texas, Texas Tech University and Angelo State
University. In addition she has taught continuing education courses in business writing, business
English, customer service, business communications and business math. Her passion for helping
individuals learn, explore new horizons and improve their professional/personal skills is what
keeps her in the continuing education field.
Marilyn Allums, B.A.
Serving as Coordinator of Continuing Studies and Angelo State University's Representative at
Goodfellow Air Force Base, Marilyn joined Angelo State University in August of 1998. Prior to
relocating to San Angelo, she lived in Singapore for five years where she enjoyed traveling and
learning about Asian history and the many different cultures living together in one country.
After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology for the University of Texas at Austin, she
worked as an Administrative Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin, Texas Tech University
and the University of Texas at Dallas.
Barbara Montgomery
Barbara is departmental secretary for the Division of Continuing Studies and greets people
with a smile. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Augustana College in
South Dakota and taught music in public school for a brief time in Iowa. After coming to Texas
and working as a secretary in Austin, she moved to San Angelo where she opened a piano studio
and taught for many years. Before joining Angelo State University in January of 2000, she was
Administrative Assistant for the San Angelo Symphony. Barbara's interests range from writing and
reading to music, art, textiles and animals. She also enjoys learning new skills and is happy to be
a part of the Continuing Studies team.
