Master of Education in Educational Diagnostics
Adviser: Dr. Mary Sanders
The Master of Education in Educational Diagnostics program is designed for those who are interested in pursuing a career as a public school diagnostician. Persons receiving this degree will be eligible to take the Texas Examination of Education Standards (TExES) to get the Professional Certificate for Educational Diagnostician.
The student must complete a minimum of 39 semester credit hours (sch) of graduate work, including all academic requirements for the Professional Certificate for Educational Diagnosticians. Prior to being eligible for the Educational Diagnostician Certificate, the individual must submit proof of two years classroom teaching experience.

*Students seeking Generic Special Education certification must substitute Adaptive Physical Education for ED 6351. Students seeking certification in Special Education must also submit satisfactory scores on the TExES Special Education examination.
Master of Education in Reading SpecialistAdviser: Dr. Cheryl Hines
The Master of Education with a major in Reading Specialist is designed for those who are interested in pursuing a career as a public school reading specialist. Persons receiving this degree will be eligible to take the Examination for the Certification of Educators in Texas (TExES) to get the Professional Certificate for Reading Specialists. The student must complete a minimum of 36 semester credit hours (SCH) of graduate work, including all academic requirements, and must submit proof of two years of classroom teaching experience to be eligible for the Reading Specialist TExES.

Master Reading Teacher Certification Program
Adviser: Dr. Cheryl Hines
Individuals seeking to fulfill the Master Reading Teacher Certificate (MRT) must hold a valid Texas Teacher Certificate; complete the courses listed below, and receive a passing score on the Master Reading Teacher TExES. With regular admission to the graduate program, these courses can be applied to the Reading Specialist degree. Students planning to take the Master Reading Teacher TExES exam will need to complete four required graduate level reading courses and have had three years of teaching experience.
