ASU FIRST
(Finding Insight and Raising Success Together)
Purpose
This program is designed to give West Texas-area high school students who plan to be the first in their families to attend college the opportunity to get their “first” look at ASU. Students participate in a one-day event on campus that will help them gather information and feel at ease about attending college.
Goals
- Provide prospective students with information about the first-generation programs, admissions process and financial aid programs at ASU.
- Provide information about the services offered to students at ASU.
- Offer prospective students the opportunity to hear about the ASU experiences of current and former students.
- Offer prospective students the opportunity to experience college life with a campus tour and lunch in the University Center cafeteria.
Participants
- First-generation students (neither parent graduated from a two- or four-year college or university)
- Typically juniors and seniors
- Attendees of high schools in Regions XIV, XV and XVIII
