Up & Coming Scholars Program
Purpose
The Up & Coming Scholars Program allows worthy high school students of good academic ability the chance to plan, prepare for and pursue a college degree. These students will receive future financial support and will have the opportunity to enroll in classes at ASU upon graduation.
Participants
Students from the Tom Green County school districts: San Angelo, Christoval, Grape Creek, Veribest, Wall and Water Valley.
Selection Process and Criteria
- Students must rank in the top one-third of their class at the end of their freshman (ninth grade) year and are invited to apply for the Up & Coming Scholars Program based on their academic progress and financial need.
- Once selected, students must then maintain an academic standing in the top half of their class each year.
- Program participants in good standing will be required to meet the admission standards of all students seeking admittance to Angelo State University.
Benefits
- A special identification card and library privileges
- The use of designated campus computer labs
- Free admission to ASU home intercollegiate athletic events
- Upon graduation, a scholarship to be combined with any other financial aid received to cover the cost of education as determined by the Office of Financial Aid
