Sara received her BA in English and Professional Writing (1985) and an MEd in Instructional Technology with an emphasis in Human Performance Improvement and Training (2004) from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Sara’s introduction to Supplemental Instruction began in 2002 when she worked as an Assistant Coordinator for Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction in the Academic Success Center at Wayne State. In July 2005 Sara came to Angelo State University to pilot the SI Program, which operates out of the Center for Academic Excellence

Mary V. Vesper
Professional Advisor
Center for Acadmic Excellence

Mary Vesper has been with the Center for Academic Excellence as an academic advisor since October 2007. In addition to supervising and observing student teachers, Mary has over ten years of teaching and coaching experience at all levels. Mary previously worked in Athletic Academic Services where she developed academic retention programs for at-risk student athletes at Texas Tech University (Lubbock), as well as the University of Central Florida and Florida State University. She continues to work on her diagonostician certification to diagnose students who have learning disabilities. Mary is ABD in Education from FSU. She also has her MS in Special Education from Nova Southeastern University (Florida) and a BS in Exercise and Sport Sciences from the University of Florida, where she was a collegiate athlete in Track.

Katie Plum

College of Graduate Studies

Katie Plum received her BA in history with a minor in English from Angelo State University in 2001. After working for more than five years in grant writing and grants management at Shannon Health System (San Angelo, TX), Katie came home to ASU to serve as the Coordinator of Sponsored Projects for the College of Graduate Studies. She is currently working on her MEd in Student Development and Leadership in Higher Education and plans to graduate in May 2009. Katie chose to work with SI for her practicum and upcoming internship in higher education because she is passionate about education and helping students succeed.
