Welcome to Staff Senate
A Message From the Chair...
The Staff Senate acts as an organized voice to promote the general interests of the staff. We disseminate information, provide opportunities for staff members to actively serve the university, and through Staff Senate meetings, we provide an open forum for the free expression of ideas and concerns.
I have the great pleasure of chairing the 2009-2010 Staff Senate. We have a great group of senators who are ready and willing to make a difference and I look forward to the coming year.
I invite all staff to actively participate in the Staff Senate. Meetings are the third Monday of each month and we depend on input from the staff to set the direction of the meetings. If you have suggestions or issues that concern you, please contact your staff senator, complete an agenda request form or make a suggestion.
Goals
Some of the goals for this year’s Staff Senate include:
- To continue to be an advocate for all staff and to represent staff interests through regular contact with administrators and on appropriate committees.
- To continue to solicit points of discussion from the ASU staff community through agenda requests and an open forum.
- In partnership with the Faculty and Student Senates, to develop a viable communication network between all ASU constituents.
- To coordinate the Staff Excellence Awards and to make recommendations on how the Staff Senate and the university can best recognize outstanding and high-performing employees.
- To collaborate with Human Resources to develop a staff survey to measure employee satisfaction and morale. Survey results will then be used to help in the development of future actions and programs.
- To continue to partner with the health and wellness initiative, ASUFit, to help promote and educate the campus community to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
I encourage all staff to help your Staff Senate improve the work life and services at ASU. Please share any suggestions, comments and ideas you may have with us. After all, we are YOUR Staff Senate - please let us know how we can help.
