2009-2010 Beta Officer |
 |
President:
Marie Tipps
Hi everyone! I am the president
for Tri-Beta this year! I’m a senior Biology major who is
interested in Museum Science. I intend to go to the University of
Colorado or Texas Tech for grad school to work on a Masters in Museum
Science. I am currently working with Dr. Ammerman looking at the
evolutionary relationships between free-tailed bats (Molossidae)
and with Dr. Dowler in the Angelo State Natural History Collection.
I am involved in the Honors Program and Honors Student Association
as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the San Angelo
Day Nursery. I have been an active member of Tri-Beta for 3 years
now and have loved every minute of it! My goals for this year are
to revamp the website with Daniel’s help, get to know every
single one of our new (and old!) members, put on an AWESOME Regional
Convention, and get the scrapbook FINISHED by March 12th! (We need
all the help we can get!!) I'm really looking forward to this
year and after the first meeting…I know it’s going to
be a GREAT year! |

Vice President: Amanda
Hicks
I am a junior here at Angelo
State University. I am a Biology major and am still debating what
I would like to do with my degree. Currently I am exploring the
option of trying to become a college professor. I joined Tri-Beta
my freshmen year because I wanted to explore the different areas
of biology further and meet more people in the biology department.
I was elected as a representative in 2008 and feel that I will be
able to benefit Tri-Beta even more this year serving as the Vice
President. I am also a member of the Honors Student Association,
Honors Program, Alpha Chi, and American Chemical Society. Tri-Beta
has allowed me to expand my knowledge, participate in a variety
of service projects, and meet amazing friends. |

Secretary: Daniel
Padilla
I am a senior biology student from Artesia, New Mexico. I am also
the secretary for Tri-Beta this year. My goals for Tri-Beta this
year are to update the current website Tri-Beta has and to make
a new one altogether so that people all over can know what we
are doing. I am also a pre-med student hoping to get into medical
school next year, so if anybody ever has questions don’t
hesitate to ask. I am excited about this year and about the things
we are going to do! |

Katelynn Frei
Hey, I am a sophomore here at Angelo State. I first joined Tri-Beta
as a freshman and has loved it ever since. I have received an officer
role as a representative. I came to Angelo State to pursue my goal
in becoming a vet, but after working with Dr. Dowler and other professors,
I have decided to change my future career choice and become an animal
trainer at any specific zoo in the United States. I plan on either
going to grad school somewhere in California, or attending a 2 year
program at the Teaching Zoo in Florida. |

Felisha Lopez
My name is Hilliary Lopez but I go by my middle name Felisha.
I am from Ballinger, Tx and this is my third year here at ASU.
I am a biology major with hopes of attending med school. This
is my second year serving as a representative for Tri-Beta and
have been an active member for 3 years. I am also a member of
the JAMP program and AMAS. I have a two year brother and am interested
in a career in pediatrics. |

David Palmer I absolutely hate writing
about myself. So with that said, I believe I am the closest thing
to a botanist in Tri-beta though my love of biology spreads far
and wide including non-vertebrate ecology and biological education
with an emphasis on curriculum . I grew up jumping around the Texas
Hill Country, but claim to be from Austin to simplify matters. I
have an intense desire for both Knowledge and Information, which
has gotten me in hot water before. |

Michelle Wentworth
I am from El PasoTexas and went to Eastwood High School.I
am a junior now who is a biochemistry major. I have been a member
of Tri-Beta since my freshman year and now I am a representative.
I love this organization because not only do we do great things
for ASU, but we do things for the community. This organization is
about giving back. I believe that most college students are only
focused about getting somewhere in life, not about giving back to
a community. Also, this is my second semester doing research with
Dr. Jones on antimicrobialsusceptibility with cottonmouth venom.
I am aspiring to be an M.D./PhD now because of Dr. Jones and my
research. When I have free time, I like to cook, be outdoors, and
see my family when I can. |
