Dear Parents,
All entering first-year students experience a major transition in their lives when they start their university careers. They encounter new surroundings, experience new freedoms, learn new policies and rules, make new friends and adjust to college expectations.
The First-Year Experience Program offers guidance and support in this often difficult time through the academic course USTD 1201. This class is offered the first eight weeks of students’ first semester to assist them early in the academic year and empower them with resources that will help them become more successful learners as they transition into college.
The class helps students increase their awareness of university services, develop and use effective study techniques, manage time efficiently, set realistic goals and improve critical thinking skills. These strategies will help them be more successful in the classroom and in the work place.
ASU recognizes the importance of students’ first-year experiences. Our goal is to help guide students to their final destination: Graduation.
