SOAR “Student Orientation, Advising & Registration”

Following your decision to attend Angelo State University, SOAR is your next step in becoming a successful college student. The freshman year is critical to the success of your total university educational experience. To help you make the transition to college, we offer special two-day programs that provide a comprehensive orientation to ASU as well as personal attention to the unique needs of entering freshmen.

For transfer students who have already made the successful transition from high school to college or for incoming freshmen students with schedule conflicts on other SOAR dates, a half-day program called SOAR Express is also available.

Regardless of the program you choose, a faculty advisor will assist you in the selection of your fall semester courses and university staff will be available to answer your questions. Registration forms are now available at Registration.

SOAR Program Dates

To ensure individual attention, attendance at each SOAR session is limited. Space is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so please send your registration form in as soon as you are certain about your preferred dates. We request that registration forms be received at least two weeks prior to your preferred attendance date. Persons registering for the two-day programs are expected to participate in all activities on both days of the program.

The dates for SOAR 2008 are:

There were 280 students who attended the June 6-7 session.

There were 330 students who attended the June 27-28 session.

There were 207 students who attended the June 28 SOAR Express.

As of July 3 there are 75 spaces left for the July 18-19 session.

As of July 3 there are 265 spaces left for the August 1-2 session.

Cost

Registration for Two-Day Program: A $25.00 registration fee is required for each student attending the two-day program. The fee for parents/guests is $10.00 per person. This registration fee covers all materials, refreshments, and a dinner. Other meals may be purchased in the University Food Service Center.

Registration for SOAR EXPRESS: The registration fee for the SOAR EXPRESS program is $20.00 for students. There is no charge for parents and/or guests to attend this program. This fee covers all materials, but it does not include any meals.

We attempt to provide each student attending any of the SOAR sessions a fair opportunity to register for the classes they desire and at times that meet their individual needs. However, we cannot guarantee that every class and every time will be available at at the time you register for classes.
