Information Technology strives to provide an enhanced technology infrastructure allowing secure access to an array of services for students, faculty and staff at Angelo State University. Secure electronic access to services allow students to register for classes, check grades, pay tuition and update their demographic information, just to name a few. Electronic mail, chat services, online testing technologies and web enabled classroom management services are facilitating learning and making student and faculty interaction convenient . You can tour the campus, meet the President, review the University calendar and current course offerings, submit applications, read the Ram Page (school newspaper) and browse the card catalog from any location in the world using Angelo State University's web services.

Angelo State University utilizes a high-speed switched network infrastructure to provide electronic access to information and to enhance the learning environment for the ASU Community. The network consists of approximately 5500 nodes with 3500 in academic and administrative buildings and 2000 being utilized for on-campus student residents.

As part of the university's commitment to incorporating technology into the classroom, there are over 700 computers available for student use. The university has adopted a refreshment cycle of three years for all student use computers and peripherals located in student computer labs and specialized classrooms. Among these 700 computers, over 400 are located in general use computer labs with access to over 175 applications, e-mail, Internet, personalized electronic storage area and 24-hour access. Student lab assistants are on duty at all times to assist students with hardware and software problems. Almost 60% of classrooms are equipped with digital projectors and permanent computer setups.

In order to enable our customers to use all available technology, a technology help desk is open to the university community (on-campus and off-campus) to assist with technology questions and requests. Information Technology offers training classes each semester on current and new software applications for faculty and staff. A Multimedia Lab is available to faculty and students who would like one-on-one assistance with producing online classroom materials and multimedia projects. An online classroom management tool, Blackboard, is available to any faculty member and one-on-one assistance and training is available on an ongoing basis.

All residence halls have direct access to the campus network and resources through connections provided in the resident’s room. For those students wanting access to online resources outside of the computer labs and classrooms, the university provides a free 48-line dialup service.
