Information on Changing Your Technology Access Account User Name
Due to the way that some of the systems work, you will notice changes, and in some cases, might lose settings and preferences. Below is a list of items that a user name change are known to impact. There may be other issues that you encounter that cannot be foreseen. It is important to remember that some of these changes will be irreversible. Due to the number of systems on campus that use a User name based on your last name, it will be your responsibility to contact and change your information as noted for some systems. Depending on your role at the University, many of these may not apply to you.
- Banner – Budget information
- Fields with information pre-populated (as from last time using screen) are lost
- Any saved job parameters on job submission screen are lost
- Password is reset.
- Personal color configuration will be lost.
- RamPort – An account rename will reset every feature to the default. Any customization will be lost. This includes:
- Channel layout will be reset to default
- Your new user name will not be recognized by your groups. You can reapply with your new name. Permissions granted to the old identity will need to be granted to the new user name.
- If you are a group leader, a Ramport Technical Administrator will add the new User Name as group leader (Note: a group may not have a group leader after a rename).
- All e-mail configuration settings are set to default in the Ramport e-mail client. (filters, signatures, and other mail account settings, etc)
- The e-mail address book in the Ramport e-mail client are lost
- Any content (message board postings, links, announcements, files, etc) put in a group by person before rename will keep their old name. The new name will be listed on subsequent content.
- Account preferences are lost and must be setup again by the user.
- All calendar settings are lost and must be setup again by the user.
- All calendar tasks and events are lost. In order to keep these, export your calendar before the account is renamed and import after.
- All subscribed calendars are lost and must be setup again
- Effect on membership in course studio groups is unknown at this time. (We are not using course studio yet)
- Any saved passwords to external systems are lost.
- E-mail
- In order that you will not have to tell everyone your new address, the old e-mail account and alias will remain active.
- Any clients checking e-mail must be updated to have new e-mail user name (Eudora, Outlook, etc).
- Active Directory
- Note: on next logon to workstation, VPN, and/or dialup, the saved User Name may still be the old User Name and must be changed by the user at logon time.
- Blackboard
- There are no known issues with changing user name in Blackboard.
- Facilities Management Employees
- User name will not match FAMIS User Name - Work with your supervisor to make the change.

- Contact Communications and Marketing for assistance.
- EMS Users
- User Name will not match EMS User Name - Must contact UC or Alumni administrator to update User Name
- Color Printing
- Database that operates system is updated nightly. Color printing should work the day after change takes effect.
- Web Server (www)
- New User Name will not match www User Name – Put in Help Desk request to update
- Webclass
- New User Name will not match Webclass User Name – Put in a Help Desk request to update
- Workstation
- Put in a Help Desk request to change name of computer to match new User Name.
- Cashnet
- User Name will not match cashnet.com User Name – Put in a Help Desk work request to update.
- Library Employees
- User name will not match Voyager User Name – Library employees make a request to your supervisor to change name.
